About Lincoln

All preschool programs for Hawthorn School District are held at Lincoln Early Learning Center, located at 200 W. Maple Ave in Mundelein.  All programs are 2 1/2 hours in length.  AM and PM sessions differ depending on the class, and are located in below descriptions.  All programs are for students between the ages of 3 - 5.  All programs are play-based programs where skills in all areas are enhanced and mastered through play.  All programs utilize the Creative Curriculum Program, which is based on the Illinois Early Learning Development Standards.

Structured Teaching Preschool Program - This program uses Structured Teaching methodology for students who qualify for an Individual Educational Program (IEP) due to a delay in several developmental areas and will require intensive, structured programming to access curriculum.  A focus on functional language and sensory regulation are integrated into this half day program.   The classroom has a maximum of ten students, with one teacher and two paraprofessionals.   

AM Session - 9:00 - 11:30 am

PM Session - 1:00 - 3:30 pm

Self-Contained Early Childhood Preschool Program  – This program is designed for students who qualify for an Individual Educational Program (IEP) due to a delay in several developmental areas.  The classroom has a maximum of ten students, with one teacher and two paraprofessionals.

AM Session - 8:15 - 10:45 am (M, T, W, TH, F)

PM Session - 12:45 - 3:15 pm (M, T, TH, F) and 12:30 - 3:00 pm (W)

Children who are 3 and young 4 years of age are placed in the AM session

Children who are 4 and 5 years of age are placed in the PM session

Blended Preschool Program – The students in this program qualify under a grant titled Preschool for All Grant.  The students in this program must be at-risk in some way for failure to be successful in Kindergarten without participating in an intervention preschool program.  The classroom has a maximum of twenty students, with one teacher and one or two paraprofessionals.

For families who live North of Route 60, placement is in the AM session

For families who live South of Route 60, placement is in the PM session

Bilingual Preschool Program – This program is for Spanish-speaking students.  The students in this program qualify under a grant titled Preschool for All Grant.  The students in this program must be at-risk in some way for failure to be successful in Kindergarten without participating in an intervention preschool program.  The classroom has a maximum of twenty students, with one teacher and one paraprofessional.
